Defining Substances

Defining new substances in ProductTraq is quick and easy.

Simply typing the first few numbers of a CAS number, EINECS number, or chemical name will start a search of the in-built Substance Inventory; the EC Inventory published by ECHA. Choosing a substance from the list avoids errors being introduced and makes defining new substances in ProductTraq very quick.

Alternative or Trade Names can be assigned to these substances too, to make working with these substances in ProductTraq easier; for instance, when defining product formulations.

Substances can also be entered into ProductTraq that are not on the EC Inventory to allow for new substances, those that have not yet been fully identified and even non-chemical articles such as machined parts and assemblies.

The type ahead functionality speeds up data entry and reduces typos and data inconsistencies.
